We’re incredibly excited to share a first glimpse at some of the early outcomes from the Creative Fuse project.
We’ve been working with video production company, Superkrush, to produce a series of short films that capture the range of activity we’re involved in at Creative Fuse.
Alex Hill, Founder of social media company Cambie + Co, recently took part in a Creative Fuse business innovation workshop led by Northumbria University. Get Ready to Innovate was a design-led programme which paired Alex with a team of researchers and MA students, setting her a series of design-based tasks to help Alex explore business possibilities.

The Creative Fuse team recently put in a bid for the Arts and Humanities Research Council’s Creative Industries Clusters Programme. This programme presented the potential to extend our unique collaboration between creative businesses and the region’s five universities until 2023 with a new project, channelling over £9m of investment into the North East.

Our 20th Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange (CAKE) event was a special one. This celebration of North East maker communities featured quick-fire presentations exploring the intersections between craft and innovation, as well as a gallery showcase of local makers, and a social media training session from Google Digital Garage.

Reading over the Culture is Digital Policy paper published this March (which has been superbly dissected by my fellow RA Sam Murray in an earlier blog), something struck me about the importance of an obvious statement: there is no silver bullet for digital engagement.
