CAKE 18: Innovative Women was held as part of the International Women’s Day celebrations at Teesside University. This event was open to everyone, with some wonderful speakers discussing gender equality and their work in the Creative and Cultural community.
This is what happened on #FuseCAKE, the live-tweeted bulletins from the event.
The day begins with a symbol: hands enclosing a soundwave. It’s the logo-in-development for Multiverse Arcade, a participatory theatre experience coming to NewcastleGateshead in Summer 2018.
Unfolding Theatre have been commissioned to produce an installation for Great Exhibition of the North and have opted to create an immersive experience that will provide a recording and listening platform for young voices to articulate the changes that they need to see in the world.
At its core, Creative Fuse North East is about bringing together universities with creative and digital businesses in the region. Universities can offer expert insights, evidence-based strategies, and access to cutting edge resources or tools, as well as introducing multidisciplinary perspectives within a business environment.
But where university-business collaboration can really shine is through bringing our students into the mix.

In February, the Prime Minister announced plans to tackle crime and abusive behaviour online. These plans promise to put into action the recommendations made in the Internet Safety Strategy Green Paper, published in October 2017. This paper advised that there should be parity in the way that online and offline behaviour is regulated and criminalised.
