The North East Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has today (14th February) published its updated Strategic Economic Plan, which outlines how it will help create 100,000 more and better jobs for the region by 2024.
The newly updated plan reflects on recent changes to the global and national economy as well as the UK’s imminent departure from the European Union.
A view of Durham’s skyline on a bright winters day provided magnificent backdrop for our 28th Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange (CAKE) event, which took place at the Calman Learning Centre, Durham University. This month we explored the theme ‘Creative Education, Educating Creatively’ which provided a chance for our speakers to share their uplifting experiences and innovative approaches to education.
The GX project was launched last year to provide a range of opportunities to North-East SMEs and scaleups before, during and after the Great Exhibition of the North. The GX project is delivered by NewcastleGateshead Initiative in partnership with Innovation SuperNetwork and Newcastle City Council.

The Innovation Pilots, placement schemes, ERDF workshops, our conference in July, and many other activities have kept us busy over the last 12 months. With this in mind, we wanted to take a moment of reflection, to look back on all that has been “fused” and look ahead to future sustainability and what New Year might hold.
Creative Fuse North East has offered funding and recruitment assistance with several student and graduate placement schemes to help organisations from across the Creative, Digital and IT sectors develop their innovation capacity and expertise.

Our 26th Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange (CAKE) event took place in the brand-new building of PROTO – Europe’s first dedicated centre for emerging technology. Our speakers shared their experiences and explored the theme of “Innovation in Content and Media”. PROTO hosts an R&D space established by Digital Catapult Centre North East Tees Valley (NETV) which offers companies support and access to innovative software across Augmented Reality (AR),
